Introducing: Hollywood Food Styling’s Kitchen Studio!

Hunting Beach California is not only known for it’s world-class surfing, it’s also known as the home of Hollywood Food Styling’s kitchen studio!

When you first walk through the main entrance there is a quaint “shop-like” space for retail items as you see pictured above. Currently, the retail shop is stocked mostly with my jarred culinary creations such as marinated heirloom tomatoes from my personal garden.

Beyond the shop you will find my personal office.   As you can see, I have a massive amount of books that are mostly cookbooks and culinary references..  I collect cookbooks from all over the world and have a special affinity for vintage cookbooks.

After passing through the office, you step into the main kitchen space, which takes up about 90% of the overall floor plan.

The new space is bright, open, airy and modern and equipped with everything my staff and I would ever need for the simplest to the most complicated culinary challenges a shoot would demand.  This picture happens to be taken from the lofted space above the main kitchen, which is used mainly for storing props and of course, more books and such.

It’s amazing how the skylights in the extremely high ceilings seem to energize the atmosphere.  As you can see, there is enough natural sunlight coming through allowing live herbs and plants to grow, and of course is a great venue for photographing beautiful food!

The equipment in my kitchen studio is commercial-grade and mostly stainless steel as you see in this photograph.  The new space allows ample prep and cooking spaces, which include multiple ovens and work spaces allowing several members of my staff to be working at the same time.

I feel it’s important to have exposed and open pantry space so you can readily see, and quickly grab any of the shelf-stable items.  We focus on keeping the shelves well stocked at all times and I am constantly picking up new and interesting food items while on my regular shopping trips, which happens to be one of my favorite pastimes.  In the future, I will blog about some of my favorite places to shop!

Well, that’s the end of the tour of HollywoodFoodStyling.com’s new home.  Stay tuned for next delicious blog entry!

I'm Back!

I know it’s been a while since I’ve last blogged but just wait; I have been so busy with work so I have lots to tell!  I have been involved with multiple TV shows and movies and one of my all-time favorites has to be The Master directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. We had the luxury of going on location in Northern California, which was quite beautiful but I will leave all the details for my next blog excerpt to be written soon.  Some other movies you can look forward to hearing about include The Guilt Trip, FAME, and Water for Elephants, just to name a few. The photo above is the house used on the set of The Master located in Northern CA.
Of course I work on quite a few TV shows in which some have come to an end having aired their last season.  I’ve had a blast working on them and would like to say farewell to the following shows: House, Private Practice, Awake, BFF, Gossip Girl, Monk and Nip/Tuck.  I look forward to seeing these shows aired in future syndications!
Besides being insanely busy working on TV shows and movies, a good reason why it’s been so long since I last wrote is due to the fact I have moved my kitchen studio into a brand new location. It’s modern, bright and airy and you can look forward to hearing about it in detail soon.  In the meantime, I leave you with a photo of the exterior of new space. Stay tuned for lots of great photos of the interior coming soon. Enjoy!
